While this is pretty much the most anticipate movie release this year, it somehow slipped my radar; and by that I mean I forgot all about it. So when my cousin invited me along to see it while I was in Connecticut last week, I figured why not? So off to the movies it was for some movie watching and bonding with the male members of my cousin’s wedding party. Here’s the short of it all; I loved Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. But because it wasn’t on my radar, I kind of went into watching it with a bit of blank slate. And by that I mean that I had no idea what it was about other than it was about Star Wars. I thought that it would impact my enjoyment of the movie, but thankfully it didn’t.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tells the story of Jyn Erso as she is pretty much dragged into the rebellion to find her father. I’m not really going to go into more detail than that because that would pretty much give it all away. Let’s just say that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ties all up all the loose ends between the original three movies that were released in the 70’s and 80’s, and the three that were released back in the 2000’s.
So where does Rogue One: A Star Wars Story fit it? Well this one would be episode 3.5 if we follow the traditional Star Wars numbering format. It’s essentially the Star Wars movie that you never actually needed, but are super happy to have. The fact that it bridges the gap between episodes 1-3 and 4-6 means that the follow-up to last years Star Wars: A Force Awakens means that when we next step back into the Star Wars Universe, we will be going forward into uncharted territory.
