Anastasia Beverly Hills | Master Palette by Mario

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario ($59 CAD) is the latest offering from what is rapidly becoming one of my all time favourite brands.  The palette is part of a collaboration between the brand and Celebrity Makeup Artist Mario Dedivanovic.  Now even if you are like me and don’t really follow the work of celebrity makeup artists, you would have to be living under a rock to not be familiar with his most famous client, Kim Kardashian.

The ABH Master Palette by Mario is a very, very wearable palette.  Quite honestly, if I had to pick just one palette to take with me on a week long vacation, it would probably be this one.  While the shades themselves are pretty common, the combination of them in the palette allows for you to create a wide variety of looks to suit your needs.

Included in the palette are Hollywood; a metallic wheat gold with a satin finish.  Then you have NYC; a rich chocolate brown with a satin finish.  Kim, is the ultimate tan with a satin finish.  Muse is a rose gold with a satin finish.  Up next is Marina; a champagne with a metallic finish.  Claudia, my fave, is a slate with a velvet finish.  Lula is a soft taupe with an ultra-matte finish.  Isabel is a burnt orange with an ultra-matte finish.  Then there is Violeta; a dark chocolate with an ultra-matte finish.  5th Ave, the softest shade in terms of texture, is a gold leaf with a metallic finish.  Bronx is a metallic olive with a satin finish.  And last but by no means least is Paris, a gilded brown with a satin finish.

Anastasia Beverly Hills | Master Palette by Mario – Makeup Look

Here I did a quick FOTD using the Anastasia Beverly Hills | Master Palette by Mario.  On the lids I have Isabel swept over my entire lid.  Then I have Bronx in the crease and the outer lid.  I used a little bit of 5th Ave on the inner corner and Hollywood as a brow highlight.  Finishing off the eyes I have THEFACESHOP Freshian Volumizing Mascara and DIOR Powder Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown*.  To finish off the look I used the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish  Natural in Dark all over the face in place of foundation.  I used Anastasia Beverly Hills Amber Glow, from the Ultimate Glow Kit as a highlighter and Anastasia Beverly Hills Raisin Lip Gloss from the Fall Lip Gloss Set.

Lime Crime Perlees Matte Lipstick – Third Eye

While I was at IMATS Toronto 2016 at the beginning of October, one of the booths I hit up was none other than Lime Crime.  It’s been years since I bought anything from Lime Crime,  but I was keen to try out a few of their lip products.  Now I know Lime Crime has been involved in some controversy over the years, but I don’t really follow it, or care about it.  So when I heard they were coming to IMATS, I was pretty excited.  The first product I picked up is the  Lime Crime | Perlees Matte Lipstick – Third Eye ($18 USD).

Third Eye is described as a mulberry red shade which is a pretty spot on description.  The shade looks pretty standard and you can clearly see the metallic tinge in the lipstick.  Likewise, the packaging on the Lime Crime Perlees Matte Lipsticks is gorgeous.  It is flat black base with flowers in various colours and the Lime Crime name in white.  It’s eye catching and unlike anything I currently have in my collection.

As you can see from the picture, Third Eye is just a gorgeous shade; really perfect for fall.  The lipstick applies very easily and is a true metallic shade.  It is opaque from the first swipe, but you can certainly layer it to whatever intensity you desire.  While this lipstick is not transfer proof, it really doesn’t end up being that big of a deal.  The formula, unlike a lot of other matte formulas, is actually not that drying on the lips.  In terms of wear, Third Eye lasted all day for me with minimal touch-ups required.  There was absolutely no feathering or bleeding when it came to this lipstick and you can wear it with or without a lip liner.

Final Verdict

I’ll be honest.  I am super impressed with the Lime Crime Perlees Matte Lipstick – Third Eye ($18 USD).  The shade is gorgeous and absolutely perfect for me.  Likewise the formula of the lipstick is great and doesn’t leave your lips feeling like they have been drained of all hydration at the end of the day.  My only regret is not picking up the rest of the line when I had the chance.

Too Faced | Melted Matte Lipstick | On Point

Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick in On Point

Despite how harsh the formula tends to be on the lips, I love a good liquid lipstick.  Now while I have never tried any of the Too Faced Melted Matte Lipsticks , I am pretty keen to test them out.  The Too Faced Melted Matte Lipstick in On Point ($25 CAD) happened to be available as a VIB Rouge exclusive from Sephora so I decided to make use of my status and pick it up. About the Book

Responding to orders from on high, the Atlanta Police Department is forced to hire its first black officers, including war veterans Lucius Boggs and Tommy Smith. The newly minted policemen are met with deep hostility by their white peers; they aren’t allowed to arrest white suspects, drive squad cars, or set foot in the police headquarters.

When a black woman who was last seen in a car driven by a white man turns up dead, Boggs and Smith suspect white cops are behind it. Their investigation sets them up against a brutal cop, Dunlow, who has long run the neighborhood as his own, and his partner, Rakestraw, a young progressive who may or may not be willing to make allies across color lines. Among shady moonshiners, duplicitous madams, crooked lawmen, and the constant restrictions of Jim Crow, Boggs and Smith will risk their new jobs, and their lives, while navigating a dangerous world—a world on the cusp of great change.

Set in the postwar, pre-civil rights South, and evoking the socially resonant and morally complex crime novels of Dennis Lehane and Walter Mosley, Darktown is a vivid, smart, intricately plotted crime saga that explores the timely issues of race, law enforcement, and the uneven scales of justice.
