Purchased by Me
With warmer weather now being a part of my reality, I am always looking for ways to simplify my makeup routine. I still want to look as good, if not better, than I always do, but I just want it to be easier. I don’t want to spend hours putting on a full-face of makeup only to have it look like crap by the time I reach the office. So I have been testing out a variety of products to see just what will find it’s way onto my new simplified summer makeup routine. One of those products is none other than the Milk Makeup Supernova Holographic Stick ($34 CAD).
Now at this point, my love for a good highlighter is legendary. I don’t do my makeup without including some form of highlighter because I love to glow. Of all the highlighters I own, I have never owned one that I would use to the exclusion of all others. Well not until I picked up the Milk Makeup Supernova Holographic Stick that is. At first glance, the colour/shade of the Milk Makeup Supernova Holographic Stick is completely intimidating. It’s a silver, with some purple in it, and is pretty much holographic on the skin.
There is no way that this should even remotely be #WOCFriendly. There is nothing about this shade of highlighter that should have encouraged me or my fellow Women of Colour that it would be a good idea to put this on our faces. I’ve tried shades like this, in other formulas and it never works. No matter how light my hand is when applying, it never ends well. The highlighters invariably end up leaving a white cast on my face and I end up looking like I have some form of glitter talcum powder on my face.
Milk Makeup Supernova Holographic Stick retails for $34 CAD and can be purchased at your local Sephora store or Sephora.ca.
