Last year the Garnier Fructis Hair Treats collection started appearing in stores. I first heard about them from a few of my favourite natural hair Instagram accounts. When I went to look for them at my local drugstore, I found them, but only in the 100 ml format. I was kind of bummed honestly. The ones I saw on Instagram were certainly larger than 100 ml, but they were nowhere to be found. Fast forward a few months, and I happened to be in Walmart, where I found the larger 400 ml version and picked one up. After using it for the last few months, and my natural hair can’t live without it.
The Garnier Fructis Hair Treats are designed as 1-minute hair masks. They are similar to face masks, but for your hair. You can use them as a deep conditioner or as a little treat for your hair. They are 98% naturally derived, and Garnier Fructis Hair Treats are 3 in 1 mask that helps to restore smoothness and shine to any and all hair types. They are formulated with no silicones, parabens, artificial colours, 100% vegan, and 94% biodegradable.
WHAT IS IT?
The Garnier Fructis Hair Treats come in five different formulas. There is something for everyone and every hair type is covered.
- Nourishing Treat with Coconut Extract
- Colour Vibrancy Treat with Goji Extract
- Repairing Treat with Papaya Extract
- Strengthening Treat with Banana Extract
- Smoothing Treat with Avocado Extract
The one I originally bought is the Nourishing Treat with Coconut Extract and I love it so much, I bought all the others.
WHAT, WHY, HOW, AND WHEN
Now I confess, I have not used the Garnier Fructis Hair Treats in the way that they were designed. They are supposed to be a 1-minute hair mask that you rinse out before continuing on with the rest of your hair care routine. I’ve been using it as a leave in conditioner for my natural curls. As a leave-in conditioner, it is glorious. A little goes a long way, and it leaves my curls looking nice and plump. They don’t look dry and define my curls quite well.
Well, that is how I was using them. But I’ve recently actually been using them properly, and I like them even better. When I use them in the shower, I do only leave them on for 1-minute. I was really skeptical that the 1-minute would be enough for them to work their magic, but they really do. At least once a month, I make it a point to break out the hair/face steamer, apply one of the Garnier Fructis Hair Treats, depending on my hair needs, and give myself a 15-minute deep condition. It has really, really helped keep my hair healthy and strong.
HOW DO I FEEL ABOUT IT?
I test out a lot of hair products, but I do always have my staples and holy grail products. The Garnier Fructis Hair Treats have quickly found themselves in that pile. They do what they say they do, they smell absolutely amazing, and are really affordable. In a world where brands are charging upwards of $20 for shampoo and conditioner, it is nice to still see products that are under $10. They are available at your local drugstore for $3.97 for 100 ml. If you are like me, and you want or need the larger 400 ml, those are available at your local Walmart and will set you back a respectable $8.97.
