Derek Lam 10 Crosby Street SetDEREK LAM 10 CROSBY COLLECTION SET

I’ve been sitting on this one for a while.  Anyone who reads this blog or knows me in person knows that I love fragrances of all kinds.  So when a new scent comes out, I tend to be all over it.  The only thing, in my mind, that is better than a new scent is when you get 10 new scents.  Even better than the 10 scents is when you can get the 10 new scents in one set and try them all out.  This is what happened when I was one day perusing the Sephora website and saw the  DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY COLLECTION SET ($115 CAD).  At the time, there was little to no information on the set or what the scents smelled like, but I ordered it anyway and I’ve been in love ever since.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby Silent StDerek Lam 10 Crosby Silent St.

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Silent St. is described as ‘white musks’, whatever that means.  I am normally not a fan of musks at all as they tend to leave me with severe headaches.  But Silent St. from the DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY COLLECTION SET is unlike any musk I have ever experienced before.  Silent St. is so light and not at all heavy or cloying as you tend to find in most musk based scents.  It is actually very calming and soft scent.  I find myself reaching for this one during my more calming moments.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby Looking GlassDerek Lam 10 Crosby Looking Glass

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Looking Glass is described as ‘Chinese Magnolia and Tonka Bean Madagascar’.  This one is much stronger than the previous one, but while it is stronger, it is not overpowering provided it applied sparingly.  It has the potential to be a scent that lingers in the air once you’ve left the room.  I tend to find this as a scent to be worn on a more ‘intimate’ occasion, or a date night out with your loved one.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby Hi-FiDerek Lam 10 Crosby Hi-Fi

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Hi-Fi is described as ‘Pink Peony and French Narcisse’.  Hi-Fi is hands down my favourite scent in the entire collection.  Once the full-sized version launches, I will be all over that one like white on rice.  While this is a floral scent, it’s not a ‘you smell like your grandmother’ floral kind of scent.  No this one is very youthful, a little fruity and a lot of fun.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby Drunk On YouthDerek Lam 10 Crosby Drunk On Youth

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Drunk On Youth is described as ‘Crisp Apple and Honeysuckle’.  Quite honestly, this one smells like soap to me, but good soap nonetheless.  It is very, very light and a pretty innocent scent.  It also does remind me a bit of Guerlains Insolence, which is one of my all-time favourite scents, although this one is a little lighter.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby AfloatDerek Lam 10 Crosby Afloat

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Afloat is described as ‘White Mimosa and Orris’.  Afloat is a little on the citrusy side of things.  Not enough that you end up smelling like an orchard or anything, but enough that gives it that crisp, fresh scent.  This is a definite ‘get up and go’ scent.  When wearing it, I feel like I can take on the world and win.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby Rain DayDerek Lam 10 Crosby Rain Day

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Rain Day is described as ‘Neroli Tunisia and Vetiver Haiti’.  Despite my love of rain based scents, I am not really feeling Rain Day at all.  This one is far, far too heavy and feels very oppressive when I wear it.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby Something WildDerek Lam 10 Crosby Something Wild

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Something Wild is described as ‘Cedarwood and Vanilla Bean Madagascar’.   Something Wild was one I wasn’t too sure about when I first tried it.  Despite my love of all things Vanilla, the Cedarwood in Something Wild makes this a little too strong for me to wear on a regular basis.  Which is a shame, because it is a very lovely scent.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby EllipsisDerek Lam 10 Crosby Ellipsis

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Ellipsis is described as ‘Australian Sandalwood and Jasmine’.  Now I love me pretty much anything that has a Jasmine scent, but the Australian Sandalwood, completely alters what you think Jasmine smells like.  For some this may be a good thing, but for me, not so much.  Don’t get me wrong, this is not a bad scent.  On the contrary actually.  Once I put the thought of Jasmine out of my mind, I was able to fall in love with this one.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby BlackoutDerek Lam 10 Crosby Blackout

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Blackout is described as ‘Osmanthus and Chai Tea Essence’.  This is without a doubt my least favourite scent in the entire DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY COLLECTION SET.  It’s too strong, it’s too musky and just generally not me.  This one is so strong that you don’t even need to spray it to get a whiff of the scent.  This can be smelt just by taking off the cap.

Derek Lam 10 Crosby 2am KissDerek Lam 10 Crosby 2am Kiss

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY 2am Kiss is described as ‘Salty Wood and Crystalized Amber’.  I’m seriously falling in love with Amber based scents lately.  Which is strange because when I think of Amber, I think of something much more musky, but that’s not the case at all with 2am Kiss.  I can’t even described this scent other than to say it smells amazing and a little bit naughty.

All in all, I consider theDEREK LAM 10 CROSBY COLLECTION SET ($115 CAD) to be a good buy.  I personally love 6 out of 10 of the scents and have been introduced to a new kind of fragrance by one of America’s most talented fashion designers.  The DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY COLLECTION SET is available exclusively from Sephora.

I’m not big into fragrances but I love the packaging of these! Seems like a great value if you want to try out a bunch of different scents all at once.

I quite like fragrance sets. Especially when they let me try out pretty much the entire line for usually a fraction of the cost of one full-sized fragrance.
