CLEAN Reserve Six Piece Travel Layering Collection
One day, I will stop buying fragrances. One day, I will stop buying fragrances. One day…oh who am I kidding. I’m never going to stop buying fragrances. I know it, you know it, so let’s all just learn to accept it. At least that’s what I told my local Sephora cashier when I was picking up the CLEAN Reserve Six Piece Travel Layering Collection. We shared a laugh over my fragrance addiction, and immediately started testing out and gushing over the scents found in the CLEAN Reserve Six Piece Travel Layering Collection.
CLEAN Reserve Six Piece Travel Layering Collection – Amber Saffron
Fragrance Notes | Bergamot Aroise Artemisia, Mandarin Oil, Rose, Lily, Raspberry, Musk, Saffron, Amber
CLEAN Reserve Amber Saffron is described as Sexy, intoxicating and sensual. Honestly, I would say that this is a very apt description. This is hands down my favourite scent in the bunch and even though I have it in this handy travel size, I am going to use one of the Sephora Gift Cards I got for Christmas and purchase a full-sized version of CLEAN Reserve Amber Saffron for myself. This one is just so delicious it’s unreal. For some reason, CLEAN Reserve Amber Saffron invokes a taste of the sweetest candy whenever I smell it. It’s like a double whammy and it’s so, so good.
CLEAN Reserve Six Piece Travel Layering Collection – Velvet Flora
Fragrance Notes | Green Bergamot, Jasmine Lily, Saffron Flower, Cedarwood, Moss, Musk, Amber, Patchouli
This one is described as Sophisticated, alluring and luxurious, but I honestly don’t get that impression at all when I smell this one. Maybe, because I am not a fan of CLEAN Reserve Velvet Flora is why it’s not evoking those feelings in me. While it’s not a horrible scent, it is way way too floral for me and I end up with a headache every time I use this one.
CLEAN Reserve Six Piece Travel Layering Collection – Blonde Rose
Fragrance Notes | Aldehydic Watery, Rose, Peony, Jasmine, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Musk
CLEAN Reserve Blonde Rose is described as ‘sophisticated, classic and feminine‘ and it is all of those things. I’m not going to lie, when I first spied the new CLEAN Reserve scents, Blonde Rose was the one scent I was absolutely determined to stay away from. I don’t typically like very floral scents, and in particular, I am not a fan of rose scents. Well colour me surprised, but CLEAN Reserve Blonde Rose is such a beautiful scent. It’s very light and airy and doesn’t really smell like rose at all, or at the very least, it smells like a much softer rose scent. It’s like a stripped down rose scent without all the cloying heaviness that you usually find in a rose based scent. CLEAN Reserve Blonde Rose uses sandalwood from Sri Lanka where locals use ‘ecologically sound harvesting practices to extract the precious oil inside‘.
CLEAN Reserve Six Piece Travel Layering Collection – Sueded Oud
Fragrance Notes | N/A
Sueded Oud is a scent all on it’s own. You don’t usually find it on its own, but rather as a base or incorporated into an overall scent. Sueded Oud is a heady scent, and even though it can be used on it’s own, I tend to use it with another of the CLEAN Reserve scents. It subtly changes any scent it is combined with, without overpowering it. Until picking up this CLEAN Reserve set, I had never tried Sueded Oud on it’s own. When worn on it’s own, I find it to be a very warm scent. Or at least it invokes the feeling of warmth when I wear it. CLEAN Reserve Sueded Oud, when used in combination with another scent, also helps to increase the scents longevity on the skin.
CLEAN Reserve Six Piece Travel Layering Collection – Warm Cotton
Fragrance Notes | Aldehydic Ginger, Watery Ozonic, Mint Green, Pepper Floral Accord, Musk, Incense, Vetiver
Even though I love the scent of Cotton, I have never actually smelt CLEAN’s original Warm Cotton fragrance. Having said that I can’t really compare the CLEAN Reserve version to the original. But when compared to other Cotton scents I have smelt in the past, the CLEAN Reserve Warm Cotton scent is a little on the strong side. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not an unpleasant scent at all, it’s just very strong. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your own sensitivity to fragrance. I found this one to be a little overpowering, no matter how little I applied. Which when you think about it is such a shame because CLEAN Reserve Warm Cotton is such a gorgeous scent.
CLEAN Reserve Six Piece Travel Layering Collection – Rain
Fragrance Notes | Bergamot, Moist White flowers, Patchouli
One of CLEAN’s most popular fragrances is their original Rain fragrance. Once again, like Warm Cotton, I have never actually smelled the original so I can’t compare it to the CLEAN Reserve version. What I can say is that the CLEAN Reserve Rain is a lovely fresh scent. It doesn’t really invoke the memory of rainy afternoons for me. It’s a little too rich and lush for that. But in any case, I haven’t been able to put this one down since I got it. I find myself saying ‘Nicole, put that one down. You have to wear a different scent today.’
All in all I consider the CLEAN Reserve Six Piece Travel Layering Collection to be a good addition to any fragrance lover’s stash. And for $60 CAD, you won’t break the bank while trying out six new scents. But if full sized versions are you game, each scent comes in a full size and retails for $125 CAD. You can check them out at your local Sephora store or Sephora.ca
*note* in addition to the six scents above, there are also three additional scents (in full sized versions) in CLEAN Reserve Smoked Vetiver, CLEAN Reserve Skin and CLEAN Reserve Terra Woods. If you want to try out all nine scents in the CLEAN Reserve Collection, make sure you check out the CLEAN Reserve Discovery Layering Set ($29 CAD) at Sephora.
